Despite the awful weather of last year’s event, the Shere Street Party still managed to raise a significant amount of money for Shere Infant School and a plethora of local charities and community groups. Despite its underlying fundraising objectives, great fun was had by all and the many community groups came together in true Shere style and put on an afternoon of great fun and entertainment for all.
We are planning on holding a similar event this year and thought that the GREAT GET TOGETHER would serve as the perfect platform to do so. The Great Get Together is a national street party initiative which is being led by the widow of Jo Cox, the MP who was so tragically murdered last summer. The initiative is being endorsed by Jamie Oliver and the Duchess of Cornwall.
"The killing of Jo was a political thing designed to divide our country and split communities apart. As a reaction to that event, [we will] bring the country together en masse."
